Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (2024)

When a game is over the top, it needs mechanics that can help players manage everything that's going on. Games like Doom have done a good job of this, making Doom Guy strong, maneuverable, and giving him a huge arsenal. As such, players can take down enemies with ease. As many games opt into this over-the-top action, players can get into these types of games with more aggression.

The newest entry to use this play style is Evil West. The game puts players in a western world, where they must face hordes of demons. Much like Doom, Evil West makes gameplay a lot smoother with the weapons it gives players. However, Evil West can be a hard game to play, and not every weapon will give players the best experience. There are ten weapons in the game, each with different play styles and power. Some make the game easier, while others will give them more of a challenge.

10 X-Bow

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (1)

This is a great weapon to use at a distance, because it requires players to charge up before using it. When the demons are coming, it's a better idea for players to start using the X-Bow to lower the number of enemies. That way, when they're closer, players can use a close-quarters weapon.

While the X-Bow is one of the stronger guns in Evil West, it comes at a price: players can't fire off shots quickly. Evil West can be an easy game, but like many third-person shooters, it can be difficult depending on the weapon players pick. If the player uses the X-Bow, they should understand the cost that comes with all the power it has.

9 Explosive Bundles

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (2)

Explosive Bundles are Evil West's take on grenades, and are great for creating breathing room when things get out of hand. When playing with friends, players can chain attacks, making the demons fall in place. While not as robust as the other weapons in Evil West, it still helps players and their friends get a tactical advantage.

What's more, enemies don't need to be in front of the player. Players can just throw these bundles far away, and demons will go flying.

8 Zapper

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (3)

This weapon is a multipurpose tool that players can use to stun and electrify enemies. Not taking down the weaker enemies first will make the game harder, because they are a little more annoying than the mini-bosses. This tool helps players avoid just that. Even when it's not fully charged, it can easily take down those enemies.

This makes the Zapper fun to use and makes Evil West gameplay more fluid. On top of that, it can act as a shield, so players can block most incoming attacks, provided they see it coming first. The Zapper is great for many things, but once players charge it all the way, it becomes a threat.

7 Broomstick

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (4)

One of the few melee-centered weapons in Evil West, the Broomstick does have a lot going for it. It does need to be charged before it can be used. When playing with friends, the team can do most of the attacks — then once the Broomstick is charged, players can do a lot of damage.

Players can find the rhythm of the combat through this weapon, which can cut down the somewhat long play time of Evil West. Not only does this weapon do high damage once charged, but it also helps take out the shields of enemies.

6 Gatling Gun

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (5)

This is a great weapon to use only if players can't deal with never-ending hordes of enemies. While it can mow down enemies with ease, it does need a lot of time to recharge after each use. It's a good idea to use this weapon either at the start of a conflict or at the end of one, because at the start players, can decimate the number of enemies. If players opt to use this gun at the end of the conflict, they can easily clean any stragglers.

Plus, it's great for both mini-bosses and main bosses. It can take down those larger enemies easily, since it shoots at a quicker rate. However, as mentioned before, there is a long recharge time to keep in mind.

5 Scorcher

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (6)

This flame-based weapon is great for area of effect damage. Players can shoot in any direction, and it'll hurt all the enemies nearby. Plus, the Scorcher compounds the attack, so if players keep on applying the fire, the enemies will go down faster.

As mentioned before, Evil West can be played with friends, so if the team is consistently attacking, taking down enemies will be more fluid. The Scorcher requires little to no accuracy to use effectively. Not only great for burning enemies, but it also destroys obstacles.

4 Crippling Rod

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (7)

The Crippling Rod is much like the Broomstick, but it's easier to use and does more damage. It does have a charge to it, but it's more manageable than its counterpart. It's a great alternative for Broomstick, provided players can get it. Its stun damage offers a ton of breathing room, and if players are with friends, the team can do a follow-up attack.

As mentioned before, there is somewhat of a charge, but unlike the Broomstick, it's shorter. This means players can use the attacks in quicker succession. This in turn makes it easy for not just them, but for their team as well. Evil West becomes hectic once there are many enemies on screen at once. This weapon, like the Broomstick, allows players to manage how many appear.

3 Pistol

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (8)

This weapon is super efficient and boasts high accuracy, two things that make the combat of Evil West easier. If players tap the trigger, they can one-shot most enemies and make the level as a whole easier. If players upgrade the pistol, they can become unstoppable, and enemies don't seem like much of a threat anymore.

While some players may not want to use this weapon because of its single-fire feature, the good news is that if players hold down the trigger, they can shoot out a barrage of bullets. Ultimately, the pistol can be used for many reasons and can make gameplay dynamic. It's also one of the easier weapons to learn in Evil West.

2 Gauntlets

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (9)

These are melee-based weapons, one for each hand, and when upgraded they can be devastating. If players want to run into hordes of enemies, and be aggressive, these gauntlets offer just that opportunity. Plus, as mentioned before, Evil West is a game with action RPG elements, and like in most action RPGs, players can upgrade these weapons. When players upgrade these gauntlets, they can do a lot with them. They can stun enemies, do high damage, and everything in between.

On top of that, its light attacks are rather over the top, and its heavy attacks will rip through the hordes of enemies, even the bigger ones. It's also an easy weapon to use. Players will get used to these gauntlets in no time.

1 Rifle

Evil West: Every Weapon, Ranked (10)

The rifle is a great long-range weapon and is easier to use to than the X-bow, mainly because there's no charge. Unlike the X-Bow, players can consistently shoot at enemies, all they need to do is reload. Since Doom inspired many shooters to be chaotic and brutal, Evil West is like that and the rifle showcases most of that style. On top of that, it makes players more accurate since it's better at long-range.

Much like the pistol, once it's upgraded, it can be deadly. The reason why the rifle is number one on this list is that it can take down enemies easily, plus players can see weak spots better with the rifle. The rifle not only has power, but is also easy to use. Once players figure out the rhythm through this weapon, Evil West becomes less stressful.

Evil West is available now on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.
