Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (2024)

Evil West puts you in control of Jesse Rentier, an archetypical Western cowboy who hunts vampires for a secret government organization. Initially armed with an oversized gauntlet and a trusty revolver, you'll come across many weapons throughout the game's lengthy campaign. Jesse is a dexterous one-person armory that can carry and use all weapons simultaneously, creating a dynamic flow to combat when you chain attacks from your arsenal.

While all weapons have their uses, some are better at clearing vampires than others. These weapons are considered and ranked in their fully-upgraded form, so you'll know which one to rely on when the difficulty ramps up in Evil West.

10 Rentier X-Bow

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (1)

The Rentier X-bow is a fast-firing crossbow that deals pitiful damage. The only reason you'll use this ancient weapon is when you're out of shots for the Rentier Rifle, but you need to hit an enemy's weak point. Its fast fire rate is also ideal for killing enemies who explode on impact.

The X-Bow becomes a decent weapon once you purchase the Amped Bolts upgrade, letting it shoot electrified arrows that chains electricity to nearby enemies. Amped Bolts is decent for clearing trash enemies, but only if you have the patience to whittle them down.

9 Explosive Bundles

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (2)

The Explosive Bundles are throwable timed bombs that you can also shoot mid-air for extra style points. It's a handy weapon that deals huge burst damage at the cost of a long cooldown. The Lightning Tornado upgrade creates a lingering tornado once it explodes, and it can even split into three with Triple Charges.

The Explosive Bundles excel at deleting pesky enemies or interrupting tougher enemies. However, its lengthy cooldown means you must carefully choose when to unleash a pocket full of chaos.

8 Rentier Gatling

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (3)

The Rentier Gatling gun is a heavy powerhouse that shreds through regular enemies and mini-bosses. The weapon requires some space since it has a wind-up, and you're immobile while firing. The Death Ray upgrade adds electric damage while causing enemies to explode, putting a mischievous smile on your face as you rain hell.

The huge drawback is that the ammo-hungry gun recharges too slowly. Additionally, you can dump all the rounds into a tough enemy and barely half their health. The Rentier Gatling gun is best used defensively with the Cocoon upgrade, rendering you immune while firing the weapon.

7 Rentier Revolver

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (4)

The Rentier Revolver is a handy weapon for extending combos and keeping enemies in the air. While it won't fulfill your old Western fantasy of taking down gunslingers with precise shots, its fast firing speed and recharge rate make fanning the hammer a great combo filler.

However, the Rentier Revolver becomes a vampire executioner once you purchase the Blaster upgrade. Your fast-firing bullets become imbued with electricity that jumps to nearby targets. Then the weapon transforms into a consistent way to apply the shock debuff, giving you space from overwhelming weaker enemies.

6 Crippling Rod

The Crippling Rod is one of the Agent Tools available for your vampire-hunting needs. Activating it stuns all the enemies in the vicinity, including bosses. The base stun effect lasts long, but you can upgrade it to extend its duration. When you're out of health and options, press the Crippling Rod button for momentary respite.

However, the Crippling Rod is your answer to ignoring dangerous boss phases. During a boss phase where you're expected to dodge, you can stun them out of their attack and even set them up for an e-combo.

5 Rentier Boomstick

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (6)

The Rentier Boomstick is an augmented Sawed-Off Shotgun used as a last-ditch option to obliterate enemies in front of you. While the Boomstick packs tremendous damage, it also comes with a long recharge rate drawback, so it's best saved for opportune moments. The Snap Shot upgrade complements this playstyle as it deals double damage when you shoot before an enemy attack.

Nonetheless, the Boomstick's severe damage is perfect for interrupting attacks and staggering enemies. The next time you don't have enough space to aim for the Stalker's weak points, you can always send it a face full of lead to stop it.

4 Scorcher

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (7)

High-tech machinery is certainly useful to hold back vampires, but nothing beats a primitive machine that spits flame and hell. The Scorcher is already an effective weapon out of the box, but its upgrades significantly increase its effectiveness. With A Bang detonates foes that die from the weapon, and the valuable Extra Crispy upgrade makes enemies take 30 percent more melee damage.

The Scorcher also has the added effect of staggering enemies. Smarter players will use the flamethrower to interrupt enemies while constantly applying its damage over time effects instead of holding down fire and burning through its reserves.

3 Rentier Rifle

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (8)

Get used to the satisfying snap and boom of the Rentier Rifle, because you'll be doing that a lot in Evil West. Primarily used for sniping weak spot indicators, the Rifle performs its task competently. Free Bullet refunds your shot on a weak spot hit, and it synergizes perfectly with the upgrade that drops a health orb after shooting a weak spot.

Outside of that function, it also dishes out great damage, perfect against monsters who want to keep their distance. The Rentier Rifle's aptly named Railgun upgrade adds a charge function to ramp up the damage further.

2 Zapper

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (9)

The Zapper elevates the story of monsters in the old west to Nikola Tesla-inspired high fantasy. Jesse's improved gauntlet lets you harness the power of electricity to unleash special attacks, like pulling groups of enemies or dashing across the map in an instant. The Zapper is invaluable for crowd control and prioritizing annoying ranged enemies.

Moreover, the high-tech weapon also gives you access to many powerful moves that draw on an energy resource. Most of these strong perks are capable of clearing enemies; however, you'll most likely save up energy to enter Supercharged Mode. Finally, the Zapper also lets you block incoming attacks.

1 Rentier Gauntlet

Evil West: All Weapons, Ranked (10)

All these tools and gadgets are efficient additions to your arsenal, but at the end of the long day, your melee prowess with the spiked gauntlet will deal most of your damage. The Rentier Gauntlet's upgrades could be better, and there are better ones that deserve your hard-earned cash. However, you'll have a much easier time hunting vampires if you spend perk points to expand your move set.

Familiarize yourself with all the light and heavy attacks, uppercuts, and all creative ways to smush vampires if you want to survive in Evil West. When the big baddies come out at night, you only have your Rentier Gauntlets to defend yourself.
