The singer mouthed 'I missed a note' to a friend behind her as she sat back down in the audience after singing Out of The Woods to the star-studded audience.
Swift, 26, took her seat next to bestie Selena Gomez who tried to console her as she shed a couple of tears.
In a video clip of the moment the songstress is seen in her sparkling black stage outfit as she sits down in the crowd with her audio earpieces still hanging around her neck.

Also hopping on stage for the tribute was country star Luke Bryan, who joined Lovato to sing Penny Lover.
Meghan Trainor was next up and belted out Lionel's hit You Are while Tyrese Gibson brought some energy to the act as he joined her to sing Brick House by Commodores.
Finally the legend himself joined the group to sing his hit All Night Long.

The 28-year-old rapper bagged awards for Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video (with Taylor Swift for Bad Blood) and Best Rap Album.
Adele wowed the crowd with a rendition of her song All I Ask.
The 27-year-old singer showed off her slimmed down figure in a sparkling red gown.

The centre slit in Taylor's skirt was reminiscent of her Grammys look last year, a blue-green Elie Saab gown which opened to reveal a mini skirt in matching hue.

The Come & Get It hitmaker told E!'s Ryan Seacrest that she picked the dress that would be good for a date, adding 'my date is Taylor Swift'.
Seacrest asked for the scoop on Selena's Valentine's Day plans to which she replied: 'I was actually with my best friends, we're all single.
'I actually had to go to a few dinners for all of this [Grammys] madness and then I just hung out at the house.' she added.
