Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE 50 UNITED STATES AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, 18 OR OVER AS OF DATE OF ENTRY, WHO ARE COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY PURSUING AN UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE DEGREE IN THE 50 UNITED STATES OR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.


  1. Contest Period: Samsung Galaxy Marketing Case Competition (the “Contest”) begins at 12:01 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) on December 27, 2023 and ends at 11:59 p.m. CT on January 15, 2024 (the “Contest Period”), which includes the registration period, which begins 12:00 a.m. CT on December 27, 2023 and ends at 11:59 p.m. CT January 8, 2024 (“Registration Period”).

  2. Eligibility: Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older as of date of entry, who are college/university students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (“Entrants”). Employees and the immediate family members (and those residing in the same household regardless of whether or not they are related) of Samsung Electronics America, Inc. (“Sponsor”), its respective parents, subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, suppliers, distributors and advertising, promotional and judging agencies and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, members, employees, agents, assigns, and all others associated with the development, evolvement and execution of this Contest (collectively “Sponsor and its Administrators”) are not eligible to participate or win.

  3. How To Register and Enter during Round 1: During the Registration Period, you may participate by visiting SamsungMarketingCase.com (the “Site”) and following the onscreen instructions to complete the registration form (“Registration”). Registration must be complete by 11:59 p.m. ET on January 8, 2024. Once you've completed the Registration process, you will receive an email within 24 hours with a detailed brief (the “Email Brief”). From there, you will be required to follow the instructions in the Email Brief to share all deliverables requested in the Email Brief via a form provided by Sponsor (the “Round 1 Entry”). You will also have the opportunity to send questions to the Sponsor regarding the Round 1 Entry process. Responses to questions received will be sent via email to all Entrants to view on or around January 10, 2024. Round 1 Entry must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on January 15, 2024 to be eligible. Entries must be submitted as a link to Google Slides and may not contain more than five (5) Google Slides.

    Each Round 1 Entry will be judged per the Judging Criteria listed below to determine up to fifteen (15)Semi-Finalists and ten (10) Alternates. Limit one (1) Round 1 Entry per Entrant. All Round 1 Entries mustbe in English. The Round 1 Entry may not contain obscene, lewd or inappropriate images or text, asdetermined at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Any Round 1 Entry not in compliance with the above/Email Briefwill be disqualified. All Entries must be the sole, original work of the Entrant, must be submitted by Entrantonly (no teams) and Entries may not have won any previous awards or competitions. Entrants may notreceive any professional advice, critiques, or assistance in the development of Round 1 Entry. All Entriessubmitted become the non-exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. No informationregarding Entries, other than as otherwise set forth in the Official Rules, will be disclosed. Each Entrantgrants to Sponsor the right to use, publish, and broadcast his/her name, voice, picture, portrait, imageand likeness in all media and types of advertising and promotion. Entrants agree that all rights to theRound 1 Entry belong to them and the Round 1 Entry does not infringe, misappropriate or violate therights of any third party including, but not limited to, copyright, trademark, or other intellectual propertyrights, rights of publicity or privacy or defamation, or portrayal in a false light. No copyrighted music,trademarks, brands, or other intellectual property not owned by Entrant or Sponsor may be used in Round1 Entry, other than Samsung. Any Round 1 Entry deemed unsuitable will be disqualified in Sponsor’s solediscretion. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an Entrant, the authorized account holder of theemail address used to enter will be deemed to be the Entrant. “Authorized account holder” of an emailaddress is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet Accessprovider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) thatis responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by Entrants’ online service will apply.


  4. Semi-Finalist Determination via Judging, Semi-Finalist Notification, Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submissions, and Round 3 Grand Prize Judging: All Round 1 Entries received will be judged by Sponsor-select judges (“Judges”) on or about January 19, 2024 to determine up to fifteen (15) Semi-Finalists and ten (10) Alternates, based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”):
    1. Strategy/Goals: 34%
      1. What is the ad/campaign's objectives?
      2. Who is the target audience?
      3. What are the insights that shaped the idea?
      4. How are they relevant to the brand and audience?
    2. Execution (Use of Media, Impact, Creative): 33%
      1. What is the creative/strategic solution?
      2. What channel(s) are used?
    3. Results and ROI: 33%
      1. Include expected/anticipated results as well as change in awareness and attitudes.
      2. Do results map back to the objectives and goals?

    Any tied Round 1 Entries will be rejudged by the Judges based 100% on Execution to determine the applicable Semi-Finalist/Alternate.

    Potential Semi-Finalists will be notified via email and will be required to sign and return via email/email link, a Declaration of Eligibility, liability/publicity release (except where prohibited by law) and assignment of rights (“Declaration Package”) within twenty-four (24) hours of notification attempt or potential Semi-Finalists may be disqualified and then one (1) of the Alternates may be contacted and they will be required to return the Declaration Package, time permitting. Return of Declaration Package as undeliverable, if any portion of the Declaration Package is not received within the required time period or if a potential Semi-Finalist/Alternate is deemed ineligible, said potential Semi-Finalist/Alternate will be disqualified and another Alternate will be contacted as stated above, time permitting. Once an Alternate is confirmed (if necessary), they will be deemed a confirmed Semi-Finalist.

    In addition, confirmed Semi-Finalists will be notified by Sponsor separately from the Declaration Package via email with details on how to submit a Semi-Finalist submission (the “Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submission”). Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submission instructions will be provided via email on or about January 19, 2024. Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submission must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on January 31, 2024 to be eligible. Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submissions must be submitted as Google Slides and may not contain more than fifteen (15) Google Slides. Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submissions must be derived from the Semi-Finalist’s Round 1 Entry. All details of the Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submissions will be in Sponsor’s sole discretion and will be explained to Semi-Finalist Entrants prior to the Semi-Finalist Presentation (defined below).

    All Semi-Finalists will each receive a Semi-Finalist Prize, as described below and subject to verification.

    Semi-Finalists will then have the opportunity to virtually present their Round 2 Semi-Finalist Submissions in front of the Judges on February 2, 2024 (the “Semi-Finalist Presentation”). Semi-Finalists (in the order determined by Sponsor) will have fifteen (15) minutes to conduct their Semi-Finalist Presentation in front of a Sponsor-selected panel of judges. The Semi-Finalist Presentation will then be judged based on the following:

    1. 25%: Presentation quality - Visuals and delivery
    2. 25%: Strategy/Thinking - Did it deliver on the ask?
    3. 25%: Execution - Is it impactful and buzz worthy?
    4. 25%: Results - Is it measurable and why should this win? (collectively, the “Presentation Judging Criteria”).

    Three (3) Finalists will be determined by different Judges based on the Presentation Judging Criteria on or around February 5, 2024. Any tied Semi-Finalists will be rejudged by the judges based 100% on Semi- Finalist Presentation quality to determine the applicable Finalist.

    Finalists will then be required to re-present their Semi-Finalist Submissions in person in front of the Judgesat a live event hosted at the Samsung Galaxy Experience Space in Herald Towers at 50 W. 34th St., NewYork, NY 10001 (the “live event”) for a final judging, on February 15, 2024 (the “Finalist Presentation”). Each Finalist (in the order determined by Sponsor) will have fifteen (15) minutes to conduct their Finalist Presentation in front of a new Sponsor-selected panel of judges and a live audience. Finalist Presentations will then be judged based on the Presentation Judging Criteria to determine one (1) Grand Prize winner following the live event.

    All three (3) Finalists will each receive a Finalist Prize, subject to verification. The Finalist ranked First will also win the Grand Prize, subject to verification. Sponsor reserves the right to videotape and/or record/photograph the Semi-Finalist/Finalist Presentations and live events (“footage”), in their sole discretion and use such footage (or portions of the footage) as they see fit. Any tied Finalists will be rejudged by the judges based 100% on the Presentation Quality to determine the Grand Prize winner. Judges' decisions are final with respect to all matters relating to the Contest. By participating, Entrants agree to the Official Rules and the decisions of the Judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Entrant must be present at Semi-Finalist Presentations/Finalist Presentation (as applicable) at the time/location specified by Sponsor in order to be eligible.


  5. Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission Requirements: Sponsor has the sole discretion to determine whether a Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission is eligible. All Round 1 Entries/Semi-Finalist Submissions must be the sole, original work of the Entrant. Round 1 Entries/Semi-Finalist Submissions become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Entrants, Semi-Finalists, Finalists, and Grand Prize winner acknowledge and agree that their Round 1 Entries/Semi-Finalist Submissions become the property of the Sponsor, which thereby has the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, promote and otherwise use Round 1 Entries/Semi-Finalist Submissions in any way it sees fit. Automated, script, macro or robotic Round 1 Entries/Semi-Finalist Submissions submitted by individuals or organizations will be disqualified. Round 1 Entries/Semi-Finalist Submissions must be in keeping with Sponsor's image and may not be offensive, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or proprietary rights. Any Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission not in compliance with the above and does not meet the Contest requirements will be disqualified. By entering, you agree to waive any rights you may have to the Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission submitted.

  6. Prizes and Approximate Retail Values (“ARVs”):

    1. Grand Prize (1): A 3-month mentorship with a Sponsor/Google-selected Google executive, including three (3) thirty-minute video conferences with the executive and one (1) “day in the life of a Googler” tour at the Google office in either Mountain View, CA or New York, NY (as mutually agreed upon between Google/winner). Transportation to/from Google office and accommodations not included. There is no retail value associated with the Grand Prize. Timing of Grand Prize is at the Sponsor/Google’s discretion.

    2. Finalist Prize (3 total): A 3-day/2-night trip for winner and one (1) travel companion to the live event in New York, NY from February 14, 2024 through February 15, 2024; Sponsor-selected Samsung products; and a one (1) year LinkedIn Premium membership. Trip includes round trip economy class air transportation to New York, NY; two (2) nights hotel accommodations (based on double occupancy); $100 per diem per day ($3,00 total) (awarded as a check) (ARV: $7,600 each).

    3. Semi-Finalist Prize (15 total): Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro (ARV: $229.99 each).

    Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. Prizes are nottransferable. All other expenses and costs not expressly listed above are the winners’ sole responsibility. Allfederal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of winner, if applicable.
  7. Finalist Prize Rules: Finalist Prize winners and their travel companions may be required to pass any required medical testing and comply with any additional requirements, at any time, that may be required or recommended by any government agency, venue or Sponsor, including without limitation, passing one or more COVID-19 antigen and screening tests, and testing negative for COVID-19 or having been vaccinated against COVID-19. Airline carrier's regulations and conditions apply. Trips may not be combined with any other offer and travel may not qualify for frequent flyer miles. Car rental is subject to additional restrictions set forth by car rental contract. Finalist Prize winners and travel companions must possess valid travel documents (i.e., valid government issued photo ID, etc.) in order to travel. Seat selection and timing of trip subject to availability and confirmation of reservations. In the event Finalist Prize winner lives within one- hundred fifty (150) miles of New York, NY, round-trip ground transportation will be provided in lieu of air transportation and no additional compensation will be provided. Certain restrictions apply. Trips must be taken on dates specified by Sponsor surrounding the live event or Finalist Prize (and the chance to win the Grand Prize) will be forfeited. Travel must be round trip. Sponsor will not replace any lost, mutilated, or stolen travel vouchers or certificates. No refunds or credit for changes are allowed. All other expenses and costs, not expressly listed above, including, but not limited to, taxes, tips, meals, ground transportation, incidentals, passenger tariffs or duties, airline fees, surcharges, airport fees, service charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, entertainment and transfers, are each Finalist Prize winner’s sole responsibility. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor who reserves the right to substitute prize (or portion of prize) of equal or greater value in the event the prize or portion of prize is unavailable or cancelled for reasons out of Sponsor’s control (except as specifically stated above). Winners will be responsible for any other costs or expenses associated with the prize(s), including payment of applicable taxes. Travel companions must be eighteen (18) years of age or older as of date of departure and must travel on same itinerary and at the same time as the Finalist Prize winner. Travel companions must execute liability/publicity release prior to issuance of travel documents (or winner on behalf of a minor travel companion).

  8. General Rules: Finalists, Semi-Finalists, Alternates and all Entrants, as a condition of entry into the Contest, agree to release Sponsor and its Administrators, each of their respective agencies, parents, subsidiaries, affiliated companies and each of their respective officers, directors, shareholders, members, employees, agents, assigns, and all others associated with the development and execution of this Contest (collectively the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons or property which may be sustained in connection with submitting a Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission (as applicable) or otherwise participating in any aspect of the Contest, the receipt, ownership or use of any prize awarded or any typographical or other error in these Official Rules or the announcement or offering of a prize. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to use winners’/Finalists’ name, likeness, Round 1 Entry, Semi-Finalist Submission, Semi-Finalist Presentation, Finalist Presentation, and footage for promotional purposes (including any possible public relations opportunities) without further compensation except where prohibited by law. By entering, Entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules. In the event of a dispute, Round 1 Entries will be declared to be made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of Round 1 Entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest; violates the Official Rules; acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner; or acts with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. The Released Parties are not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, telephone failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, garbled or delayed electronic communications, whether caused by the sender, by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest which may limit the ability to participate, or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the Entries in this Contest. Entries generated by script or bot are not eligible. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Contest if it cannot be completed as planned for any reason, including but not limited to for infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures or corruption of any sort. In such event, Sponsor will determine Semi-Finalists/Finalists/Grand Prize winner based on the Judging Criteria/Presentation Judging Criteria, from eligible Round 1 Entries received prior to cancellation and award prizes in the process described above, if enough eligible Entries are received (and if Presentations can take place as planned). As a condition of entering the Contest to the extent permitted by law, Entrants agree that: 1) under no circ*mstance will Entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential or any other damages, other than for out-of-pocket expenses; 2) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and 3) any and all claims, judgments, and award shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event attorney’s fees.

  9. Conditions: Winning Entrants/Semi-Finalists/Finalists/Grand Prize winner acknowledge and agree that their Round 1 Entries/Semi-Finalist Submissions and any footage becomes the property of the Sponsor, which thereby has the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, promote and otherwise use Entries/footage in any way it sees fit in connection with advertising or promoting the Samsung brand and products in any medium, throughout the world, in perpetuity. Entrant shall have no right to review or approve edits, alterations or modifications, and the Entrant waives the benefit of any provision of law known as “moral rights”. No information regarding Entries or judging will be disclosed to any third party not involved in the conduct of the Contest. By submitting an Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission, you represent: (a) that the Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission is your own original creation that has not previously been published or publicly shown or won a prize or award; and (b) any and all rights to the Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission belong to your Entrant and the Round 1 Entry/Semi-Finalist Submission does not infringe, misappropriate or violate the rights of any third party.

  10. Winners: For the names of the Semi-Finalists/Finalists/Grand Prize winner, available after March 1, 2024 send a stamped, self-addressed envelope by March 30, 2024, to: Samsung Galaxy Marketing Case Competition - Winners, 100 Marcus Drive, Attn: BN, Melville, NY 11747.
